ROUTINE CARE SHOULD BE AT PHYSICIANS` OFFICE

The Fund Office has noticed that many members and their dependents are using hospitals for routine x-rays and lab tests. Your Plan pays for services at the required level necessary for you to get the appropriate care. If you doctor sends you to a hospital for a routine lab test, rather than have your specimens sent to an outside lab, the Fund may not reimburse the entire cost of the test. Some hospitals have actually `sold` their labs to outside labs which should be an indication to us that the outside labs are more cost-effective. The same is true for x-rays, MRI`s and CT Scans.
If you need to find an outside lab, you can call the Fund Office at 212-726-9730, or click the link to Horizon on this website.
You will be saving yourself money and getting excellent care.
